RadioAlabama unveils new app to enhance listener experience

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – RadioAlabama is thrilled to announce the launch of our new app, designed to revolutionize how our listeners engage with our stations. Available for download on both the App Store and Google Play, the app offers an immersive platform for accessing our diverse range of radio stations anytime, anywhere.

The RadioAlabama app consolidates our 11 individual branded apps into one, providing listeners with seamless access to their favorite stations across our coverage areas and beyond. With features like immersive CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities, users can enjoy our brands in innovative ways, whether they’re at home, in the office, or on the go.

Developed in collaboration with Skyrocket Radio, the app builds upon the success of our website’s customizable online stream player. Offering a custom-built experience from the ground up, the app ensures a cohesive and engaging interface for users.

Key features of the RadioAlabama app include:

  • Branded experiences with matching color schemes for each station
  • Access to contests and promotions
  • Push notification capabilities
  • Podcast and on-demand player
  • Dark theme option
  • Customizable favorite station selection

As part of this transition, existing individual station apps will be phased out, consolidating our presence on the App Store and Google Play under the RadioAlabama brand.

“Having a single group app will eliminate the clutter of what we, and other stations, put our listeners through now,” said Lee Perryman, President and CEO of RadioAlabama. “As consumption of content continues to evolve, we must become more app-centric in everything we do — from multimedia content to contests — to maximize relationships with and engagement of our audiences.”

“We’re excited to offer our listeners a unified platform to experience our stations,” said Michael Brannon, Executive Vice President of RadioAlabama. “The app not only enhances our connection with our audience but also opens up new opportunities for engagement and promotion.”

“This is a big deal when it comes to covering local sports, especially high school athletics,” said Jeremy Law, RadioAlabama’s News and Sports Director. “The ability for us to now have a native platform allows us to connect with avid listeners of high school athletics in an entirely new and engaging way. Seamless transition between Friday night football games has never been easier as well as notifications when games go live — just to start.”

“Connecting with our listeners is at the core of what we do,” said Claire Hodges, RadioAlabama’s Promotions Director. “Giving them a reimagined way to experience our brands is the key to great interaction. When we do a ticket giveaway, broadcast live from a remote, or announce a winner, you’ll hear about it first in the app and that makes me really proud.”
