Maddie Prohaska named SEC Freshman of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Auburn goalkeeper Maddie Prohaska has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

An early enrollee from West Chester, Ohio, Prohaska made her collegiate debut against Mississippi State last Friday, becoming the first Auburn true freshman to start a season opener in goal since 2009.

Prohaska held the Bulldogs scoreless in the run of play with the lone goal coming on a penalty kick and made a league-high eight saves, six of which came in the second half and overtime periods.

The freshman keeper logged all 110 minutes in the double overtime contest and also played a role in the attack as the Tigers built from the back for the majority of the match.

Auburn continues the eight-game, conference-only fall season by traveling to Bryan-College Station, Texas, to take on Texas A&M Sunday at 3 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
