Lee-Scott boys basketball advances to Montgomery with first-round playoff win over Valiant Cross

AUBURN, Ala. – With a 63-27 win over Valiant Cross Academy, Lee-Scott boys basketball (11-9) advanced to Montgomery for the quarterfinal round of the state playoffs.

Lee-Scott was led by a trio of scorers with Carson Alexander, Dylan Hickman and Joseph Horne all netting 11 points. The starting Lee-Scott frontcourt (Alexander and Horne) combined for 22 points and 10 rebounds. Alexander added two assists and two steals to his tally. Hickman had a team-high four steals on his statline.

It was a team effort with Lee-Scott assisting on 12 of its 24 makes with the Warriors shooting 43 percent from the field and 52 percent from inside the arc.

Lee-Scott will play No. 1 seed Morgan Academy in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. in the Cramton Bowl Multiplex at Montgomery. The Warriors defeated Morgan Academy 67-56 in their previous meeting this season on Dec. 21. The winner will advance to play No. 1 seed Pike Liberal Arts or No. 3 seed Monroe Academy.

Also in action yesterday, Lee-Scott girls basketball defeated Autauga Academy 46-36. The game was added to the schedule to provide the girls team a game this week prior to heading to Montgomery. Going into the week, Lee-Scott had already locked down its spot in the quarterfinals as a No. 2 seed.

Lee-Scott girls basketball will play No. 1 seed Clarke Prep on Monday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. in the Cramton Bowl Multiplex at Montgomery. The winner will advance to play No. 1 seed Pike Liberal Arts or No. 3 seed Monroe Academy.
