Bliss named Brooks Wallace Award Shortstop of the Week

AUBURN, Ala. – Junior shortstop Ryan Bliss has been named the Brooks Wallace Award Shortstop of the Week, the College Baseball Foundation announced earlier this week.

Bliss started at shortstop in all four games at Lipscomb and Ole Miss and went 8-for-20 with five runs, three home runs and four RBI. He collected multiple hits in all four contests and has turned in two or more hits in 37 of 73 games dating back to Apr. 1, 2019.

Bliss hit his fourth home run of the season in a 9-7 win at Lipscomb Tuesday and set a new career best in the category, needing just 14 games to eclipse his three home runs hit as a freshman in 2019.

In his 100th career game at Ole Miss Saturday, the LaGrange, Georgia, native matched a career best with a pair of home runs against the Rebels. The two home runs marked the 122nd and 123rd hits of his career.

The junior shortstop also manned the middle infield for every inning last week and did not commit an error while recording 14 assists and two putouts.

Bliss and the Tigers return to Plainsman Park and continue Southeastern Conference play this weekend, hosting Kentucky for three games from Friday-Sunday.
