B.B. Comer High School girls basketball player selected to All-State team

SYLACAUGA, Ala.- Raven McCain from B.B. Comer High School has been selected to third team All-State for girls
basketball by the Alabama Sports Writers Association.

“I am very blessed to have this opportunity to be a part of an all state team, especially since I am the first female athlete ever in my school’s history,” said McCain.

McCain is the first female athlete in school history to ever be selected on an all state team. She contributed to her team’s winning season by averaging 22.8 points per game.

“This accomplishment was major for Raven, her family, our basketball program, our school, and community,” said varsity girls head coach, Michael Hale. “She has played varsity basketball since the seventh grade. Raven has also led the team in scoring, rebounds, and steals since playing on the varsity level. It was about time for her to reap the rewards for her hard work. This historic moment for our basketball program gives our younger athletes something to look up and forward to.”

The team made it to the first round of the AHSAA playoffs for the second time in school history, while also winning the area championship for 2A Area 8.
