Alabama football lands league-high 16 players on Preseason All-SEC Teams

HOOVER, Ala. – The University of Alabama football team was represented by a league-high 16 student-athletes on the Preseason All-SEC Teams, the league office announced on Friday morning. In addition, the Crimson Tide was selected to finish atop the SEC West and repeat as league champions, according to media members in attendance at SEC Media Days this past week.

Alabama’s eight first-team selections include a league-high six on defense to go with two on offense. The Crimson Tide added two second-teamers on both offense and defense to go with one specialist spot. UA’s third-team group is made up of two defenders and one offensive player.

  • LB – Christopher Allen

Alabama was also picked to win the SEC Western Division with 130 first-place votes and 932 points, ranking ahead of Texas A&M with the Aggies predicted to finish second in the division at 760 points. Alabama also received the most votes to finish as SEC Champions once again, with the Tide totaling 84 points compared to Georgia’s 45.

The Crimson Tide enters the 2021 campaign having won a league-leading 28 SEC Championships in program history, including five of the last seven conference titles. Alabama is scheduled to open the 2021 season against Miami on Sept. 4 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga. The neutral-site pairing is set for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff with the game airing on ABC.
