Aggies host ‘Dega tonight at Douglass-Martin Court

Two words.

Sylacauga. Talladega.

That should be enough to make the hair on the back of your neck stand up if you hail from the Marble City. There is no bigger rivalry in Talladega County – regardless of sport – than the one that resides between the Aggies and Tigers when the two meet on the hardwood.

Tonight, the defending 4A state champion Talladega Tigers will make their annual visit to Douglass-Martin Court to visit the Aggies. Coached by legend Chucky Miller, the Tigers will enter the contest undefeated (4-0) with a few very impressive victories under their belt. Talladega has outscored its opponents 303-205 through those four games.

The Tigers are great defensively, only giving up 51.25 PPG. Offensively they fill it up, averaging nearly 76 PPG. The Aggies average 71.57 PPG while only giving up 54.71 PPG.

Beating the Tigers will be a tough task for the Aggies if you judge the teams on common opponents. ‘Dega has beaten Coosa Central (72-53) and Benjamin Russell (82-38). The Aggies have faced Benjamin Russell twice, losing one 69-71 and winning one 66-51. The Aggies also topped Coosa 73-66 in the season opener.

Sylacauga and Talladega will tip-off tonight at 7:30. You can watch a live video stream of the game on The Aggie Sports Network Facebook page. You can listen on the home of The Aggie Sports Network – Yea!106.5 and the Yea!106.5 app.
